Star Wars vs. Star Trek

January 17, 2016 Leave a comment

Damn, it’s been a while since I posted anything. What was the last thing I ranted about? Something about a girl who could fly? Then again it’s not like I blog on a consistently frequent basis anyways. Life has this pesky tendency of, you know, happening. Anyways, a lot of shit has happened since then. Caitlyn Jenner won “Woman of the Year” some how, we lost David Bowie, it’s now 2016, and Donald Trump is still leading the polls disturbingly enough. Oh, and something else occurred too…

exodus-gods-and-kingsRidley Scott’s next time period epic is set to release this December. Exodus: Gods and Kings  will be following in Noah’s  footsteps, bringing another action packed, Biblical interpretation to the big screen. In this classic tale that chronicles a people’s journey from slavery, the Dark Knight himself, Christian Bale, will play the Israelite hero Moses; Alien badass Sigourney Weaver will play his adoptive mother Tuya; while Joel Edgerton, whom Star Wars fans may remember as a young Owen Lars, will play Ramesses II (or Rhamses). Miss Black Beauty Canada 2013

IMG_4456So I’m a year late to be posting this, but this was actually an article I wrote last year for an event that I covered. Unfortunately, the article was never used nor were the photos I took (probably because the person who oversaw the magazine was also a contestant– and did not win, at least that’s my theory). After remembering that I had a blog of my own, I finally decided to publish it myself, albeit a year after the fact. What can I say, I’ve mastered the art of procrastinating. Anyways, I felt that the participants had worked very hard for this one night and certainly believe that the young ladies who took the time to be interviewed at least deserved to have their stories told. So here it is, or was…

Looks like “Stand Your Ground” is being used to justify killing blacks

July 15, 2013 Leave a comment

So with George Zimmerman now free to walk the streets, many Americans and those abroad have exploded with rage at the verdict. Despite the fact that a 17-year-old  boy was murdered for minding his own business and buying skittles, and Zimmerman claimed self-defense even though he was the obvious aggressor, the prosecution fumbled the ball  in what should have been a straight away touch down. Taliban shoots 14 year old activist

October 10, 2012 Leave a comment

The Taliban is essentially the terrorist version of cockroaches. Kill one and ten more come crawling out from some crevasse. But every now and then these cowards get lucky and manage to kill innocent people, along with themselves. Being the fanatics they are, they hold no qualms about murdering children, especially those like Malala Yousafzai. Read more…

Vogue bans skinny skinny models. About damn time.

Female standards of beauty are always changing, and women have been trying to keep up with these silly conventions since the pharaohs. During the old Greek days, the curvier physique was what ladies strove for, while today women have to be Popsicle sticks to walk the runway (being of Trinidadian descent, I much prefer the former look. The Greeks had it right). Read more…

Taye Diggs explains how everything a black person says can be considered black poetry

January 25, 2012 Leave a comment

In this hilarious video from the Nova Scotia production On the DL, American actor Taye Diggs gives us an in-depth look into black culture and its impact on his upbringing. Is it just me, or does the host slightly look like Bill Nye the Science Guy?  Follow this link to see the clip.

Note: since this segment has caused some stir among the dense and ignorant, it must be said that the video was NOT meant to be taken seriously and is in fact a joke.
